Saint International’s newest face Kyisha (Kai) Newman, has been named, Model of the Week, by world-respected website Models.com. News came recently that the Jamaican beauty made the coveted listing on what many consider the Nasdaq of the modelling industry.
Kai was also this year’s (2013) winner of the Fashion Face Of The Caribbean, and was signed on the spot by One Management.
Standing at five feet nine inches, the Caribbean has its first ever Top Model winner coming out of the Cayman Islands. Twenty-two-year-old Treveen Stewart was selected as the winner of the Caribbean’s Next Top Model competition.
Born in Grand Cayman, Stewart has lived in Jamaica for quite a while. She moved to Jamaica in fifth grade and lived in St Elizabeth where she attended St Elizabeth Technical High School for a few years before returning to the Cayman Islands to complete high school.
According to Stewart, Jamaica is quite different from the Cayman Islands and she has learned a lot. “Jamaica taught me how to cope in the real world at a very fast pace. Cayman is a little more relaxed, and the people a little more helpful. Jamaica teaches people how to fend for themselves and that’s important in the real world.”
She was discovered at the age of 15 when she won a regional modelling contest that afforded her the opportunity to sign with a US modeling agency. However, Stewart shunned the catwalk and instead focused on her studies by deciding to finish high school.

Former Miss Haiti Universe Sarodj Durocher Bertin is one of this century’s overachievers. She is a beauty queen. She has her own foundation Sarodj for a Purpose. She is a calendar girl, most recently posing for the 2013 edition for what has become an annual treat for her fans, the Sarodj Bertin I Love Haiti calendar. The Port-au-Prince-born philanthropist managed to raise $60,000 from the sales of the last edition. Bertin is planning a vocational school to teach young Haitian trades, in addition to building an orphanage.
And let us not forget the fact that she got tapped by makeup brand the Maite Makeup Company to be one of the ambassadors of their brand. And now, Bertin is making her way in filmdom. She previously starred in director Angelo Rizzo’s movie The Voodoo’s List, but is now aiming for the U.S. film market, making her debut in that market in the Richard Widmack Belot film Everybody Cheats. The film produced by Nirva Balan and Even Flow, also stars Benz Antoine, along with a host of other talented thespians.
In 2002, Jamaica selected the stunning Sanya Hughes to represent us at the Miss Universe pageant. Although she did not make the top 15, she had a huge impact as she was selected by world-renowned Global Beauties as the “sexiest woman of the Americas” in 2002. After the pageant Sanya continued her modelling career with Pulse model agency and in 2011 she had a small role as ”Mermaid” in the 9th highest grossing film of all time worldwide, Pirates of the Caribbean:
LIVING THE FIT LIFE
LIVING WELL – LIVING HAPPY – LIVING HEALTHY
When we eat well and exercise, life is so much more enjoyable than when we eat badly and live a sedentary lifestyle. Focus on getting healthy, and your waist line will reward you.
Engaging in exercise for just 30-minutes per day can help improve your health. We all know that exercise is good for us. However, we are often too lazy to start because the very thought of exercise takes us into a lazy frame of mind. But by simply taking a short walk by yourself or with a friend around the neighborhood is already a form of exercise. It could be a walk to the neighbors’ or it could be a short brisk walk up and down the vicinity. The bottom-line is, any form of “physical” movement of the whole or partial parts of the body can be considered an exercise.
The more you move, the more bad calories you burn, and you’ll start to feel and look better.
